Taylor Design received two awards in the 2009 American Graphic Design Awards Competition, presented by Graphic Design USA Magazine. The projects honored include the 2008 annual report for Keep America Beautiful and the redesigned alumni magazine for Sarah Lawrence College.

One of our studio’s favorite writer-collaborators, James King, recently won the “2010 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award,” beating 6,500 others for the top prize. James’ novel, “Bill Warrington’s Last Chance,” has just been published by Viking, an imprint of the Penguin Group, and is on sale now at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Borders. Watch the trailer which was designed by our studio. A review by Deborah Donovan of Booklist says it all: “Part road odyssey, part coming-of-age tale, King’s novel achieves the exact right balance of humor, redemption, and reconciliation.” It’s a wonderful book and I encourage everyone to buy a copy!

Our submission “My World Tomorrow, Keep America Beautiful’s 2008 Annual Review” has been selected to be included in Graphis’ 100 Best Annual Reports 2011. Graphis, the International Journal of Visual Communication, represents the best internationally produced work in various disciplines from the previous year. The book will be published in January of 2011.

For the month of July, designer John Rudolph and his sidekick Kristen are traveling west and won’t stop until they reach California. To chronicle their adventure and share their experiences with friends and family, John created the “We Can’t Stop-America” blog. Check it out.

Taylor Design is pleased to announce that it received nine awards at the 2010 Connecticut Art Director’s Club Awards show at the Boathouse, Hartford on Thursday, June 17. We received a Judges Award for the 2009 Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup Report, a gold medal for the Taylor Design “Good Moves” Calendar, three silver medals for the 10th Anniversary Video for InsightExpress, the 2009 Keep America Beautiful Annual Report, and the Sarah Lawrence College Alumni Magazine, and excellence awards for the Stonehill College Student Life Brochure, the 10th Anniversary Campaign for InsightExpress, the Developing Futures publication for GE and Stamford Public Schools, and the Taylor Design “Lemon” promotional mailers.

We celebrated the move to our new office space with a festive picnic-pa-looza, along with many of our clients, partners, children, parents, and friends. It was great to talk with everyone face-to-face, which is increasingly rare nowadays. Steve designed the promotional materials and Nora, Laura, and Mary Ellen coordinated the event. Excellent job all!
