Like many people, I have numerous pets. I’ve had them my whole life. Most of my pets have been cats, and I still find myself dreaming about them from time to time, long after they have passed. I wake up wishing I could see their faces and give them a scratch once more. Pictures don’t really feel the same as having your buddy with you in person, but I found an artist who creates extremely lifelike portraits that make it seem like your pet is right there with you.
Artist Sachi started her career as an illustrator in the advertising world. She discovered the hobby of needle felting and created some of her favorite animal mascots. She soon found that she liked focusing on the head of cats in particular and started felting realistic-looking cat heads. After a little while, she got bored doing generic cats and started to recreate real-life pets for friends. People LOVED them. Her attention to detail is astounding and her work looks like a living, breathing animal. She now takes custom orders through her website, Wakuneco, from customers all around the world and helps people reunite with their beloved pets in a more intimate way than they could from simple photos. Sachi only does a few orders per year due to the painstaking work involved in making these, so if you really want one of her works, you’ll have to follow her closely and wait for her order form to open up. See her in action in some of her videos below.
