Lots of Sole in These Shoe-Shis

Milan-based Sushi Chef Yujia Hu has started creating sushi in the shape of sneakers, which he cleverly refers to as “Shoe-Shi.” They are true works of art, held together with sushi rice, nori, and a variety of sashimi. The “shoes” are based on popular brand name sneakers. Beautiful as they are—and despite the 30-minute crafting time—the chef makes each bite-sized shoe with the purpose of being eaten at his family’s restaurant, Sakana.

His creativity has now turned toward crafting sushi-sculptures of all sorts—famous athletes, clothing, fruits, famous works of art, animals, etc. Follow his latest creations here.
